Taj Jackson is the founder of the Dee Dee Jackson Foundation (DDJF) and Delores “Dee Dee” Jackson’s oldest son. With the help of his younger siblings, Taryll and TJ, he created this beautiful homage for their mother’s spirit to live on.
Taj’s mission for DDJF is to help as many people as possible navigate their way during the grieving process. Through the strength of social media and DDJF’s podcast called “The Power of Love,” the volunteer-driven foundation is now global, with groups and communities for all ages worldwide. In 2022, The foundation was rewarded a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by Congressman Brad Sherman. DDJF is also a HOPEE Award (Helping Others Practice Enduring Empowerment) recipient.
Taj was working on an album with his brothers when his mother was murdered. He was devastated, and music still made him feel close to her, providing a meaningful way to express himself in his grief.
The Dee Dee Jackson Foundation is the personification of Dee Dee herself. It represents her love of music, helping those in need, and strong sense of community. The Dee Dee Jackson Foundation began by providing music therapy classes to grieving children. Music Therapy facilitates emotional expression and helps develop coping skills and connections to others through empathy, thus fostering a sense of community.
Taj likes to say the love from the Dee Dee Jackson Foundation community makes the foundation successful. There isn’t a doubt Dee Dee would be proud of her three sons and the foundation they created in her honor.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Taj studied at Loyola Marymount University. He formed a R&B/Pop music group at a young age with his brothers called 3T, which still tours today. He also enjoys being behind the camera directing.
Taj is happily married to his wife, Thayana, and they have two beautiful children, with one on the way. A kid at heart, Taj is a big Three Stooges fan. He also enjoys video games and watching movies.
