With over 15 years of experience in childcare and youth development, connecting with the Dee Dee Jackson Foundation was a natural fit for Kaitlyn. She began her career as a teacher in her hometown of Boston after receiving her degree in Early Childhood Education from Salve Regina University. Since moving to LA twelve years ago, Kaitlyn has been a passionate advocate and worker in the childcare and arts sectors and spent five years serving as a volunteer with DDJF. The foundation’s mission and core values spoke deeply to her heart, and Kaitlyn was honored to officially join the Board of Directors in 2020 as the Director of Outreach and Media.
Kaitlyn oversees online campaigns for DDJF, such as fundraising and social media promotion. In her role as producer for the foundation’s weekly digital talk show, The Power of Love, which is focused on loss, grief, hope, and healing, she cultivates relationships with guests and sponsors while leading the show’s public relations strategy. She attends the local Music Heals sessions to witness firsthand the impact of music therapy and collaboration through shared experience and manages partnerships with national youth development organizations to implement the DDJF model through providing programming, instruments, and music therapists. She feels deeply moved by the community that DDJF has built for voices in the grief space.
In her spare time, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her husband Ryan and exploring the world with their son, River.
